Summer Chuang is a current student enrolled in our full-time master of science in sports product management program. She is from Taipei, Taiwan; speaks Mandarin; and has a BA in industrial design.
Chuang has previous experience working as a senior product manager for HAITEC Automobile Technical Center in Taiwan. She also worked as a product designer for SU-AO Onward Design Company, transforming a traditional jewelry company's branding and increasing its consumer repurchase rate by 20 percent with her redesign and promotional plan.
Chuang previously attended Tatung University where she played volleyball while at university and completed a dance training course in New York City at the Broadway Dance Center. She has also worked as a professional dancer.
Chuang believes that through design we can make the world different. Her short-term career goal is to enter the sports product industry as a product manager following her completion of the program next year. Her long-term career goal is to have her own sports business and to create a series of sensational sports products for the world.
As part of the master's program, students are encouraged to enter summer internships in the industry focused on the areas in which they plan to pursue careers. This year Chuang was offered the opportunity to be a footwear design and innovation intern at Columbia Sportswear.
Per Chuang, "I'm very excited to join the creative team and ready to get my hands dirty to learn as much as possible in the real-life sports product industry!"
